KICKS IN THE AIR v2

Gather up all the power of Hong Kong athletes to support 'Wonder Kid' Rex Tso 曹星如 for his road to Tokyo 2020! The artwork is a spin off of <Kicks In The Air> that is used in @nikehkg Kicks Lounge in @k11musea in Hong Kong. All athletes are wearing the new Nike Air Max 95 "HKG 2020".

The Bauhinia-inspired Nike Air Max 95 “HKG 2020” model arrives to celebrate Hong Kong and its special ties to sneaker culture. A limited-edition release exclusive to region, the sneaker is expected to be premiered by local boxing legend “Wonder Kid” Rex Tso at his next tournament, the perfect person to represent both the area and the shoe for upcoming international tournaments.

As Air Max Day draws nearer, Nike is amping up it up with their exclusive drops across select and specific markets across the globe. To pay ode to Hong Kong, Nike has selected its emblem, the Bauhinia, as the overarching theme for the sneaker. The Bauhinia is the flower of the Bauhinia blakeana orchid tree, originally named after a former governor of the region. 50 years after being coined the emblem, today the Bauhinia stands for the persevering and unwavering spirit of the people and their city.

The flower’s colors – fuchsia and magenta – paint this Air Max 95, standing for fortune, good omen and blessings. The colorway completely embraces the vitality and energy of Hong Kong, both in its colors and the floral pattern across the upper. The reflective elements decorating the flowers hark towards HK’s looming skyscrapers, and the “HKG” tag in place of the traditional “Air” tag as well as the sole’s “HKG 852” imprint pushes the ode to the max.

The Swoosh’s decision to combine its new model with Rex Tso’s character and interesting sporting background is indicative of the energy surrounding the drop – one can dream, one can achieve and determination really does get you far. This sneaker is for those who love a story, especially one around new milestones just waiting to be made.
